(East Farmingdale, NY)  Get ready for a major winter storm.  In the pre-dawn hours on Monday, a low pressure system over the Ohio Valley will converge with a low pressure system over the Atlantic and together will form a major nor’easter.  The storm that the Weather Channel has named, Orlena will begin Sunday night and will worsen over the day on Monday before finally moving out of our area sometime on Tuesday.  By sunrise on Monday morning, WALK-FM Senior Meteorologist Anthony Martello, says we could see about 1-3 inches of snow across Long Island.  As Monday morning continues, the snow will get heavier and the winds will be sustained 20-30 mph, with gusts over 40-50 mph, blizzard conditions are highly likely.  A blizzard is defined as winds over 30 miles per hour for 3 hours or more with 1/4 mile or less visibility.  Dangerous travel conditions are expected. Travel should be avoided.  Flooding will be an issue for this storm, with tides running 3-6 feet above average for all waters around Long Island.  Tree limbs and branches may fall under the heavy snow.  Power outages are possible.
