- President Donald Trump is set to announce executive actions on police procedures and Senate Republicans are preparing a package of policing changes in response to mass demonstrations over the deaths of George Floyd and other black Americans.
- The Supreme Court backed workplace rights for LGBTQ people. The court ruled 6-3 that a key provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that bars job discrimination, encompasses bias against LGBTQ workers.
- The Nassau County Police Department say they are investigating an arrest made last week during a protest in East Meadow. …. and protesters say they are heading back to East meadow today.
- The NYPD have determined there was no criminality by Shake Shack employees after three officers drank milkshakes believed to be contaminated with bleach. Shake Shack tweeted that it was horrified by the reports and was working with authorities
- The NYPD has also announced that they are disbanding the unit involved in the Eric Garner choke hold death. About 600 officers working in the unit will be given new assignments.
- NY State has extended the special enrollment period for health insurance through July 15th. NY’ers without insurance can apply on the NY state of health market place.
- In addition to low risk sports… when Long Island enters phase 3, gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed…. western NY and the capital region enter phase 3 this week.
- The LIRR’s Mobil APP just got a MAJOR upgrade… the APP can now help you with social distancing by using load sensors to detect how many people are on board each car.
- And in sports…. The U.S. Tennis Association says they intend to hold the U.S. Open in New York starting in August without spectators if it gets governmental support.
