The Fire Island Inlet Bridge underwent inspection – and was closed to the general public for part of the day Monday after a fishing boat captain reported concrete falling from the bridge Sunday night.
Officials say the bridge was reopened after the New York State Department of Transportation conducted two inspections of the bridge and determined that it is structurally sound and safe for travel.
