A Patchogue man was arrested after he left his 2 year old son in a car while he went shopping at Walmart during Tuesday’s heat wave. Suffolk police said the child was in the car unattended for about 20 minutes in the parking lot of the Walmart at the Centereach Mall when the temperature was about 100 degrees.
A good Samaritan called 911 and officers remove the child from the car and transported him to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. The father was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
