Governor Kathy Hochul says New York will launch a major effort to fix roads damaged by winter weather. Crews are expected to fill more than 175,000 potholes statewide using thousands of tons of asphalt.
On Long Island, nearly $60 million will go toward repaving and resurfacing.
Officials say repeated freezing and thawing this winter caused widespread road damage, leading to an increase in potholes.
