State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has granted final approval for a contract extension that will allow PSEG Long Island to continue operating the Long Island Power Authority’s electric grid for another five years.
PSEG Long Island has managed LIPA’s transmission and distribution system since 2014. Under the newly approved agreement, the utility will continue overseeing day-to-day grid operations, storm response, and customer service on behalf of the public authority.
The contract extension was previously approved by the New York State Attorney General in October, clearing one of the final regulatory hurdles.
Officials say the new term will begin January 1 and run through December 31, 2030.
