Speculation is growing that alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann could change course and plead guilty — a move that might spare both his family and the victims’ relatives from enduring a lengthy, graphic trial.
Heuermann, arrested in July 2023, has repeatedly insisted he is innocent. But on September 23, his ex-wife’s attorney, Bob Macedonio, told reporters outside Suffolk County Courthouse that a guilty plea “would spare the seven victims’ families of listening to the horrific nature of these allegations” — and Heuermann’s own family as well.
Still, Macedonio cautioned that talk of a plea is only speculation. And even if Heuermann admits guilt, he emphasized, there will be no plea bargain in a case involving seven homicides.
