A burglary in Garden City ended with a police-involved shooting early Sunday morning
Police say they received a 911 call reporting two suspects trying to break into a Verizon Store on Old Country Road.
The caller told police one of the suspects pointed what appeared to be a gun at him.
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said Officers encountered one of the suspects several blocks east of the Verizon store and the confrontation ended in gunfire. The suspect was struck in the ankle and brought to a local hospital.”
The two officers involved in the shooting were treated at the hospital for trauma. A Nassau police SUV with bullet holes in the windshield was still on the scene Sunday morning, along with detectives searching the area for the second suspect.
