Kevin Dougherty the Elmont high school principal whose leave of absence at the start of the school year sparked a student protest on the first day of school — and incited community uproar — will return to his position next week, though it’s still not clear what sparked his absence in the first place.
The school district superintendent wrote in an email that Dougherty would return to his position as principal at Elmont Memorial High School on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
