East Farmingdale, NY- A West Sayville man was taken into police custody early Friday morning after he allegedly drove his boat under the influence of alcohol and crashed it into a dock on Fire Island. Suffolk County Police say Edward Beekman, 58, was operating a 1991 23-foot Mako, when he crashed into the north end of the Point O’ Woods dock at approximately 3am. Beekman was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and also charged with Operating a Vessel Under the Infulence of Alcohol.
