Couple Described as "Just Getting By" Financially

Rocky Point (WALK) - The couple that reportedly won last month's $162-million Mega Millions jackpot has finally claimed their prize.

A New York Lottery official has confirmed that the drawing's one winning ticket was handed in and validated yesterday at a lottery office in upstate Fishkill. The winners' names have yet to be released but they will be introduced at a press conference on Long Island, possibly Thursday.

A guessing game about the winners' identities has been under way ever since the winning numbers were announced, and it was revealed that one winning ticket was sold at a card store in Rocky Point. A Greenport lawyer who claims to represent the winners has described them as lifelong residents of Long Island who were high school sweethearts and have now been married for 29 years. He also claims that the two have had serious financial problems and now live on the brink of poverty.
