Nesconset (WALK) - Suffolk detectives are trying to figure out what led to an apparent drowning over the weekend, the second in the county in three days.
Police say they were called to a home on Saggese Circle in Nesconset Sunday afternoon by a woman who'd just found her elderly mother under the water of an inground swimming pool. Barbara Bruce of upstate Hopewell Junction was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital but never regained consciousness and was declared dead.
Police are still trying to determine how and why Bruce, 70, slipped under the water.
On Friday, the body of an elderly Southold man was found at the bottom of the pool at his North Fork home.
