Lindenhurst (WALK) - Police are hoping to find witnesses to an accident on Wednesday afternoon that put a teenage bicyclist in the hospital.
Joseph Calabrese of Lindenhurst was heading south on South Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst around 4:45 PM when he apparently pedalled into a Volkswagen at the intersection with West Hoffman Avenue (pictured at right). The car was traveling west on West Hoffman Avenue when it happened.
Calabrese, 16, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he's reported in serious condition.
The driver, Timothy O'Connell of Lindenhurst, had three passengers in his car. None of them were hurt and O'Connell, 44, has not been charged with any crime.
