Selden - (WALK) The search continues for a woman who left the scene of a crash in Selden, where a Holtsville motorcyclist was critically injured Wednesday.
Police say the motorcyclist, William Ventura, 22, was riding east on Route 25 when he struck the rear of a S.U.V., driven by Joanna Wudarkiewicz-Tarach, 44-year-old Selden woman. As the bike lay on the pavement, it was hit by another S.U.V., said police.
The driver of the second S.U.V., a woman, got out of her vehicle and spoke with Wudarkiewicz-Tarach, then got back in her car and drove away, said police. The woman did not identify herself, and Wudarkiewicz-Tarach did not record her license-plate number.
Investigators are trying to determine if the woman struck Ventura, or just his bike. There are no charges against Wudarkiewicz, said police. Ventura was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and is in critical condition.
Police are searching for a gray or silver S.U.V., and the driver who is described as a woman about 50 years old. Anyone with information is urged to call Suffolk Police Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls are confidential.
