Melville - (WALK) The investigation continues into the death of a Dix Hills Man, killed in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway early Sunday. Suffolk police closed the L.I.E. eastbound in Melville for several hours Sunday.
Blake Marcus, 20, of Maryland Street, was driving an Acura on the L.I.E. eastbound, east of Exit 49 when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The 12-year-old car crashed through a guardrail, then rolled down an embankment and into a wooded area at about 4:30 a.m., said police.
Marcus and his passenger, Dorian America, 21 of Wheatley Heights, were removed from the vehicle by police and members of the Melville Fire Department, then taken to Nassau University Medical Center. Marcus was pronounced dead at the hospital in East Meadow; America was treated for non-life threatening injuries, said police.
Police closed the Expressway to eastbound, Father's Day traffic near Round Swamp Road for six hours Sunday. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Nassau Police Second Precinct at: 631-854-8252.
