Queens, NY - (WALK) A Long Island firefighter is in hot water for allegedly calling in false alarms then robbing firehouses while his fellow firefighters answered the calls.
Joseph Keene, 34, of Hicksville is accused of using his cell phone to call in at least three false alarms, then robbing four fire stations in Queens and Staten Island between May 29 and his arrest Thursday, according to The New York City Department of Investigations.
Keene is a six-year veteran of the FDNY, assigned to a company in the Bronx. His annual salary is $76,488. Investigators say Keene's total "take" was approximately $2,060.
Keene was suspended for 30 days without pay and arraigned on felony charges Friday, including false reporting, burglary, and grand larceny.
