New Orleans, LA - (WALK) A pair of Long Islanders are behind bars in Louisiana, accused of attempted murder after a shooting in New Orleans.
Sara Mott, 27, of Kings Park was reported missing on June 20, according to county records. She and a man identified as her boyfriend, Kevin Cahill, 29, also of Kings Park, were arrested after a shooting at the Wyndham Garden Plaza in the city's business district Tuesday morning, said police.
Cahill is accused of shooting a 49-year-old Florida man at the hotel at about 9:30 a.m. The victim is reportedly hospitalized and in critical condition.
Police say Cahill and the man were arguing in a hotel room when Cahill pulled a gun and shot the victim "multiple times." Police say Cahill also accidently shot his girlfriend, Mott, in the foot. She is reportedly OK.
Cahill is charged with attempted first degree murder, possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and illegal possession of stolen items. Mott is charged with attempted first-degree murder, and reportedly has a DWI case pending in Suffolk.
