Mineola - (WALK) The Nassau medical examiner must supply the autopsy report of the Hempstead man responsible for a double-fatal hostage standoff near Hofstra Universlty, according to a judge's ruling Tuesday.
The family of the late Andrea Rebello intend to pursue a wrongful death suit against the county, according to attornies.
Rebello, 21, was being held in a chokehold by assailant Dalton Smith, 30, who had forced his way into the apartment Rebellow, her twin sister and two others shared on California Avenue in Uniondale in May. Responding officer Nikolas Budmimic, a 12-year NCPD veteran, fired his weapon eight times, killing both Smith and Rebello.
Attornies for the Rebello family requested Smith's autopsy report in July, and say information about bullet-wounds and other details may be helpful in supporting their case.
