Mineola - (WALK) Convicted child molester Jesse Friedman plans to sue Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice for defamation, for alleging he possessed pornography while in prison.
An attorney for Friedman, Ronald Kuby, served Rice with legal papers and filed a notice of claim with Nassau County Friday. Kuby's actions indicate he plans to file a lawsuit within 90 days, according to legal authorities
The suit is inspired by a three-year review of Friedman's case released by the DA's office in June. In her report Rice concludes Friedman was justifiably convicted, was determined by psychiatric authorities to be a psychopath, and alleges Friedman was in possession of, or had composed, pornography featuring images of prepubescent girls while incarcerated at Coxsackie Correctional Facility.
Friedman and his late father, Arnold, were subjects of the nationally-distributed 2003 film, "Capturing the Friedmans." Both were convicted for molesting more than a dozen children who attended computer classes at their home in Great Neck during the 1980's.
Arnold Friedman took his own life in prison in 1995 at age 64, Jesse Friedman was paroled in 2001 after serving 13 years.
